Sabrina is the crowning glory of our Women's Couture Suit Collection. She embodies the decadent, hyper feminine silhouettes that started with Dior's New Look in the late 40s and carries into it's apex in the mid 50s. Sabrina's jacket is made up of 12 panels and 56 pieces. The black and rose silk shantung highlights the dramatic style lines of the front and back jacket. The front has a princess line across the front of the bust and a second one at the side bust. The high stand up collar frames the face in black satin and drapes softly like petals on a flower. The black is repeated in the faceted buttons at the front and the ribbon that cinches the waist. The back of the jacket has beautiful lines that repeat the placement in the front. The rippled peplum creates a contrast with the smooth tailored lines of the jacket and accentuates the ratio from waist to hip reflecting the "X" shaped silhouette that defines the period.

Sabrina Blouse Sabrina's blouse is appropriately delicate in gossamer-like black rayon embroidered net with glass seed beads. The neckline is square as not to interfere with the line of the jacket. The blouse is shaped at the bust and waist and closes with buttons up the center back. The snugly fitting sleeves incorporates the embroidered scallop of the fabric. The pink washed silk charmeuse lining is attached to the blouse and has a provocative sweetheart line. This blouse is a tribute the Peggy Hunt who is the designer who originated the illusion neckline. $275.00 |
Sabrina Skirt Sabrina's 12 gore skirt has a high Hollywood waist and gores that are small in the center of the skirt and grow in size as it makes it's way from the center to the side of the skirt. This creates a slimming line visually. The style lines that taper dramatically reflect the ones found in the back of the jacket. This skirt is made up of a remarkable 38 pieces. Each gore is flat lined with interlining to create the stiffness in the skirt that produces it's sensational waves. This skirt can be worn with crinolines for a more dramatic look. The skirt closes with a zipper at the center back. Both the jacket and skirt are fully lined. $475.00 |
