Based on a vintage pattern from 1933, Elsie features asymmetrical design lines that fashion designers explored in this period. The finger jointed seaming breaks up the solid silhouette in a unique way as this design element is a mirror image in front and back.
The black and white striped shawl collar and gauntlet cuffs are accented with white tabs and black buttons. This playful element brightens the solid block of raspberry rayon faille crepe. Six additional black buttons in the front and back straddle the four-inch wide belt with contrasting black buckle.
The top stitching on the front of the dress ends in a kick pleat below the knee. In keeping with the slim silhouettes of the period, Elsie has long sleeves that fit close to the body and a hem length that hits lower on the calf.
